The records of the Hay Historical Society relate to the town of Hay and surrounding district, including the villages of Booligal, Booroorban, Carrathool, Gunbar, Maude and Oxley.  The Society is happy to undertake research relating to local history.  For our contact address and details of fees click here.

    Please send any information you already have, such as full names, names of spouses, maiden names, children, dates, occupations, origins, ages, addresses (etc).  If you know an exact date of a death, or it can be ascertained from the Hay cemetery listings, the newspaper files can be searched for obituary details.

    Please also explain the purpose of your inquiry, whether for family research, or for documentary detail for a publication, or for background for a novel (etc).  This will enable the most appropriate selection of material to be made.

    Research Fees
    An initial inquiry within Australia will require an enclosed fee of 20 dollars (Aust.) made out to the Hay Historical Society (and a stamped addressed envelope).  This will cover a preliminary search and reply.  You will be advised if further information is available, such as articles in newspapers, and a quote supplied on any further fees involved.  Enquirers from outside Australia should contact the Society for a quote regarding research fees (including initial enquiries).  The contact address for Research Services is:
